Dr. Sanchez-Gonzalez presents his research that is taking place at Larkin Community Hospital. Dr. Sanchez-Gonzalez has participated of Summer Institute in Cardiovascular Genetic Epidemiology, which is part of the Programs to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE-CGE). The primary mission of PRIDE is to encourage scientists and research-oriented faculty from diverse backgrounds to further develop their research skills and gain experience in advanced methods and experimental approaches in basic and applied sciences relevant to heart, lung, blood, and sleep disorders. The institute was conducted at Washington University School of Medicine in St Louis, MO.

The group of Mentors and Mentees participating of the PRIDE program Dr. Sanchez-Gonzalez was selected among national institutions of Higher Education. In fact, only eight individuals in the nation were chosen to participate in this program. There were only seven institutions including University of Arizona, Harvard Medical, Emory University, Howard University, Boston University, and Temple University selected.
