The Miami Neuroscience Center presents at the Congress of Neurological Surgeons
Written on in Event, Neuroscience, News, Scientific Seminar.

Dr. Jose Valerio, Dr. Andres Alvarez-Pinzon, Dr. Sam Coy, Dr. Marcos Sanchez Gonzalez and Dr. Aizik Wolf, from the Miami Neurosciences Center, will present the abstract "Viability of Second Gamma Knife Radiosurgery vs Percutaneous Retrogasserian Balloon Compression for Primary Trigeminal Neuralgia" at the 2015 Annual Meeting of the Congress of Neurological Surgeons (CNS). RTA-Leksell-GammaKnife-PerfexionTreatment in trigeminal neuralgia must be adapted in each patient. Surgeons must be conscious of medical, surgical, and radiation treatment modalities to suggest ideal management.

Gamma knife radiosurgery could be used multiple times compared with percutaneous retrogasserian balloon compression for pain control. The objective of this study is to evaluate the efficacy of Gamma Knife Radiosurgery and retrogasserian balloon compression in trigeminal neuralgia refractory for prior Gamma Knife radiosurgery.

The CNS Annual Meeting is the premier forum for exploring controversial and hot-button issues impacting the neurosurgical specialty and for learning about the most cutting-edge procedures, approaches, and technologies in the field. Our 2015 meeting theme highlights the rich tradition of mentorship within our specialty and celebrates our association with Walter E. Dandy, one of the great mentors and founding fathers of neurosurgery. The meeting will be held on New Orleans, Luisiana, September 26 - 30, 2015.
