It is with great pleasure that we are able to welcome Dr. Stephen Stahl to our Larkin Community Hospital Psychiatry Didactics Day on Tuesday, November 8th, 2016. Dr. Stahl is a well-known and highly-distinguished psychiatrist who has published several books which are the backbone of residency teaching in psychopharmacology at most psychiatry residency programs. He is currently a professor at the University of California, San Diego, and serves as an Honorary Fellow in the psychiatry department at the University of Cambridge. He is also the chairman of the Neuroscience Education Institute (NEI) and Arbor Scientia Group. Dr. Stahl also serves as the director of Psychopharmacology Services at the California Department of State Hospitals as well as the Editor-In-Chief of CNS Spectrums. He is an internationally recognized authority in psychiatry, having published over 500 scientific papers, edited 12 textbooks and personally written 35 text books including the two best-selling textbooks in the field of psychiatry and psychopharmacology over the past twenty years. He has contributed significantly to the field of psychopharmacology through his research in the 70s, 80s and 90s, especially in the area of serotonin, schizophrenia and depression. In 2002, The International College of Neuropsychopharmacology honored Dr. Stahl with the Lundbeck Foundation Award in Education for contributions to postgraduate education in psychiatry and neurology. It is a great honor to have been chosen by Dr. Stahl for this opportunity. We would like him to have an enjoyable experience, and encourage him to return in the future.
