Joel D. Stein D.O. FAAO, FAOASM, FACOFP, is pleased to announce the partnership between the Institute for Non-Surgical Orthopedics (INSO) and Larkin Community Hospital, S. Miami, to develop the first inpatient Neuro-Musculoskeletal Medicine (NMM) educational and consulting program for post-doctoral residency and fellowship training in South Florida.
In addition to the Neuromuscular Medicine (NMM) residency training, INSO has developed a new Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine (NMM) inpatient consultation program that will enhance and complement the overall Family Practice (FP), Internal Medicine and Psychiatry training programs at Larkin. This represents an integration of Primary Care and Neuromusculoskeletal Medicine for inpatient consultations. The consultation services will be available starting this month.
There are six funded residency spots per year and an additional four staff positions to complement both inpatient services and a nearly ready to open, newly built, outpatient center.
The inpatient program represents one of only two such programs in Florida, the other at Florida Hospital, East Orlando. Both hospital programs are part of The Consortium for Excellence in Medical Education (CEME), affiliated with Nova Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine. The Consortium was established in January 1999, to increase opportunities for postgraduate medical training, internships, residencies, fellowships, and continuing education. The CEME is an alliance of clinical sites linked through electronic networks; teaching, research, and the community health collaborations; and a shared commitment to excellence in the education of tomorrow's physicians. CEME partners joined forces for postgraduate clinical education, research initiatives, and public health and preventative medicine programs to benefit Florida’s elderly, indigent and minority patient populations.
Along with the inpatient consultation service, Dr. Stein and his team are getting ready to open the outpatient NMM clinic, to be named the Larkin/Stein Institute for Non-Surgical Orthopedics. At this clinic, patients can expect the same “One-Stop-Shop for the treatment of all moving parts” approach for which INSO is known. Physicians at the clinic will integrate various disciplines and therapies to manage all aspects of musculoskeletal disorders and injuries.
The outpatient clinic is being renovated for Dr. Stein and will open in the last quarter of 2011, in a location adjacent to the Larkin Hospital at 7031 SW 62nd Place, South Miami, FL.
INSO has a main location in Fort Lauderdale, where their highly experienced team of physicians uses state-of the-art technology and applies both conventional and alternative treatments to care for their patients.
Their comprehensive “hands-on” approach incorporates all aspects of musculoskeletal and neuromuscular rehabilitation to achieve optimum health for their patients.
