Dr. Jordan Fabrikant's "Review and Update on Melanocyte Stimulating Hormone Therapy: Afamelanotide" was recently published in the Journal of Drugs in Dermatology.  The article was co-authored with Khasha Touloei DO of Broward Regional Medical Center in Fort Lauderdale and Stuart M. Brown MD of the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas. Larkin Community Hospital encourages residents to become lifelong scholars in their fields by continually analyzing and synthesizing others' research as Dr. Fabrikant has done in this review article.  The authors cite a number of studies showing that the hormone afamelanotide could be a promising treatment for for skin diseases including vitiligo, erythropoietic protoporphyria, polymorphic light eruption and prevention of actinic keratoses in organ transplant recipients.  To read more of the article, click here. Jordan Fabrikant DO was born and raised in San Diego, CA. He graduated college from UCLA with a degree in Marine Biology and conducted an extensive scuba diving research project while studying abroad in Barbados.  He then attended medical school at NSU-COM in South Florida and went on to complete his general medicine internship in Largo, FL. Next he completed his first year of Dermatology residency in Dallas, TX, followed by his second year of residency in Miami, as well as his current position as Chief Resident in Dermatology at Larkin Community Hospital in Miami, FL.  Dr. Fabrikant is interested in medical, surgical, and cosmetic Dermatology.
