Whirlpools

Body & Extremities

About

Whirlpools are a form of hydrotherapy in which damaged tissue is submerged in a tub of jet-driven water with antimicrobial agents (chemical substances) to clean and treat the skin condition. The combination of water agitation and chemical substances removes toxic debris, bacteria, and contaminated materials from the tissue which reduces inflammation, increases circulation, decreases pus formation, and accelerates healing. The water temperature is around 92°–96 °F and the sessions last anywhere between 10 and 20 minutes.

Our facility is equipped with a full immersion tank and a smaller extremity tank. The full immersion tank is used to submerge the whole body of the patient in the water using a patient lift. The patient can either sit or lay comfortably in the tub until the session is complete. The smaller extremity tanks are used for either the patient's arm or legs.
