Guidelines for Visitors
Larkin Health Systems
Visitor Guidelines
We welcome family and friends to visit loved ones while maintaining a safe, healing environment.
Please review the following guidelines before your visit.
General Visitor Check-In
- All visitors must check in with hospital security located on the first floor.
- A photo ID is required.
- Visitors will be issued a visitor badge to wear visibly while in the hospital.
- Children under 12 years old are not permitted in the Medical/Surgical or Intensive Care Units.
Visitation Hours
Medical/Surgical & Intensive Care Units:
11:00 AM – 8:00 PM daily
Behavioral Health Units:
7:30 PM – 9:30 PM daily
Number of Visitors Allowed
- Patients may have 2 visitors at a time.
- A patient can designate one Essential Caregiver, who may visit for at least 2 hours daily, even outside of standard hours.
24-Hour Visitation Is Allowed For:
(Unless the patient objects)
- End-of-life situations
- Emotional distress or grief
- Major medical decisions
- Transitioning from home to hospital care
- Assistance with eating/drinking
- Significant changes in behavior or communication
- Note: Overnight stays are allowed in private rooms only with prior approval.
Infection Control & Safety
- Visitors with flu-like symptoms will be asked to wear a mask.
- Visitors may be asked to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) in patient rooms under isolation precautions.
- Practice good hand hygiene at all times.
- No proof of vaccination is required to visit.
Personal Belongings
- Larkin is not responsible for lost or stolen items. Please keep belongings secure or leave them at home.
Behavioral Health Unit Visitors
- Visitors must be approved by the patient.
- Children under 18 are not allowed in the unit.
- All packages or food must be checked at the nurse's station.
- No personal items (purses, wallets, phones, backpacks) allowed inside the psych units. Items may be left at your own risk.
- Visitors are limited to 2 per patient at a time.
- Visits take place in common areas only – not in patient rooms.
- Recently discharged patients may not visit the unit for 2 months.
- All visitors will be subjected to metal detection scanning.
Special Circumstances
- Restrictions on visitation may be applied when necessary for safety or therapeutic reasons.
- Visitors will be notified if a restriction is in place.
Visiting During a Pandemic
- Visitor access may be limited or suspended based on current health conditions.
- All visitors may undergo health screening upon entry.
- Masks and PPE will be required as needed.
- Only those essential to a patient's emotional well-being and care will be allowed.
