Visitors can be good medicine for patients. Family members and friends are welcome to visit. However, patient care is our primary concern at Larkin Community Hospital, and, in order to enhance the quality of care, specific visiting hours and regulations have been established for each unit. Visiting hours and regulations are available at the information desk on the main floor.

Overnight visitors shall not be permitted without prior approval from the Nurse Manager/Nurse Director or Administration.

Visiting Hours have been established as follows:

Medical /Surgical Units:

11:00am to 8:00pm

Telemetry:

11:00am to 8:00pm

Critical Care Units:

11:00am to 8:00pm

For this unit, only two persons are allowed at a time for 15 minutes.

Psychiatric Units:

7:30pm to 9:30pm

In an effort to increase quality of care and patient and family satisfaction our hospital has an open visitation policy. We support Patient and Family Engagement practices (PFE) and believe families should play a role in the assessment and development of treatment plans for their loved ones.

Working together with those that intimately know the patient, our health care professionals can gain valuable information including the patient's medical history, conditions, medications, and allergies. This is especially important in circumstances were the patient, due to their medical condition or age, is unable to fully recall this vital information. In addition, it has been shown that open visiting hours provides a familiar support system for patients, reduces anxiety and social isolation, can assist providers in shift-change reports, and increases the opportunity for family and patient education. It is our hope that these efforts engender trust and create better working relationships between hospital staff and family members.

At Larkin Behavioral, we understand the need for our patients to stay in touch with their loved ones during their hospitalization. During the global pandemic of COVID-19, a highly infectious disease, our hospital had to take extra safety measures to preserve the well-being of our patients, staff, and doctors by restricting our visitation policy. Please call or ask one of our receptionists to learn more about our COVID-19 policy.

There is only one entry point for visitors to enter the hospital; all visitors will enter through the front lobby. 
Visitors will be screened at our entry point before coming in to prevent unnecessary exposure. 
Only visitors previously approved by a competent adult patient will be allowed to enter our inpatient care areas. 
Maximum of 2 visitors per patient.
