Criteria Selection for Acceptance to Program to Assure Intern’s Competency


  • An official Verification Statement from an ACEND accredited didactic program in dietetics or a completed declaration of intent to complete degree and/or ACEND-approved minimum academic requirements form. Candidates must have or intend to complete a masters degree before the internship.
  • Proven record of academic sufficiency such as an official transcript(s), as well as points for applicant rankings, begin at grade point averages of 3.2 or higher.
  • Relevant paid or non-paid nutrition-related work experience will aid in the selection of candidates. Please submit your resume.
  • Interest to match Larkin Dietetic Internship goals and objectives.
  • A minimum of three letters of recommendations. There must be at least one from a professor (from a nutrition-related class, such as Medical Nutrition Therapy or Food Service Management) and another from someone the intern has worked directly in a paid or volunteer position. No personal references.
  • Skills in critical thinking and basic nutrition assessments. A test to assess skills will be part of the initial interview.
  • Personal Statement: Applicants will be asked to complete a personal statement.
  • Preceptors form: Long distance internship applicants must complete a preceptor’s form for each rotation. Please submit your forms along with your application package.

The Application Process

Larkin Dietetic Internship participates in the DICAS application and D&D matching

DICAS

  • The program is using the online centralized internship application, DICAS, which may be accessed at DICAS Application. Candidates must follow the DICAS timeline and complete application on time and completely to be considered for the Larkin Dietetic Internship. The fee schedule is posted on DICAS website and it is approximately $50.00 dollars for the first application submitted and $25.00 for each additional application. Please visit DICAS site for the latest fee schedule and timeline.
  • When completing the application form, applicants must include the name and contact information (specifically an email address) for each reference.
  • The three letters of reference should be from qualified individuals that know the intern well. Interns must follow all of the requests stated in the admission requirements.
  • Applicants will be asked to complete a personal statement that describes the candidate’s ability to successfully complete the internship. The letter should also include professional and educational goals.
  • A Verification statement or Declaration of Intent from your Didactics Program in Dietetics is necessary.
  • At this time, there is no Larkin Dietetic internship application fee.
  • All accepted applicants are subject to drug testing, background checks, and verification of identity.
  • Incomplete applications will not be considered.

D&D

  • In addition to DICAS, applicants must also register online for a computer matching at dnddigital.com. Applicants must apply by the dateline provided on the website and select Larkin Dietetic Internship. There is a computer matching fee.
